Affirmations for black women, why?

We don’t need to explain all of the things that black women have to deal with but here are some heavy hitters:

  • Microaggressions

  • Anti-blackness

  • Systemic racism

  • Toxic masculinity

  • Intersectionality of race and gender

  • Eurocentric beauty standards

  • Unrealistic expectations of “strength” from others

  • Lack of appreciation at work

  • Unequal pay compared to male peers

  • Being treated as unworthy of having nice things

  • Balancing work, childcare and personal life

The list goes on and on. Honestly, each of these could make up their own blog posts, documentary, full-length feature film, Wikipedia entry, and much more but that’s not what this post is about. We are focusing on building up black women with 10 powerful and positive affirmations that will hopefully provide some confidence and self love to get you through the day. Take the time to say these out loud and repeat them as much as you need. Remember that affirmations require consistent practice to begin to change your thought patterns.
